what is fascism?
Fascism is basically a political ideology that first started to develop in Italy in the 1920s. Fascists try to unify their nation by having complete control over the nation and control all of society. Some common characteristics of a fascist nation are devotion to a powerful leader and veneration, or absolute respect, to the state. They are strongly against liberal democracy (our government uses this) and communism. Fascists also believe that political violence and war are the answers to reviving a nation. Adolf Hitler was a fascist and his NAZI party strongly followed fascist beliefs. Fascism can also generally be placed on the far-right of the political spectrum, therefore it can be placed among conservatists, who wish to conserve traditional institutions, like schools. Them being on the far right of the political spectrum can also help define its characteristics.
Fascism is generally not viewed as a good thing. Fascists may believe that fascism was perfect for their country, but keep in mind that Hitler used fascist beliefs and the characteristics of fascism are not exactly proper.
